Israel marks the Day of Remembrance for the Fallen Soldiers and Victims of Terrorism

Today at sunset, until sunset tomorrow, Israelis in Israel and around the world will mark National Memorial Day (“Yom HaZikaron” in Hebrew); A day of tribute to fallen soldiers and victims of terrorism. The Israeli community in Delhi will mark the day with a special memorial ceremony and the flag, over the Embassy of Israel, will be at  half-mast.

The memorial monument in the picture, one of the 2,900 memorial monuments across Israel, was built in the memory of 73 IDF soldiers that were killed in 1997  when two helicopters collided. The monument is located in “She'ar Yashuv” in Northern Israel (where the tragic collision took place).

This is one of the most significant days on the Israeli calendar shared by all communities in unison, as we express eternal gratitude to our sons and daughters who gave their lives for the achievement of the country's independence and its continued existence.
